BUILDING INSPECTOR PAY BANDS Provisional License - $51,700 - 1–2 License(s) - $59,455 - 2+ Licenses - $68,373.25 Performs technical work inspecting projects in the unincorporated areas of Seminole County in accordance with applicable County and State codes. Assists the department in achieving its mission and vision statements. Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description. Additional compensation is based on licensure. Note : These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position. Building Inspector duties are as follows: Perform timely inspection of new and existing buildings to ensure structural safety; investigate complaints and issue notices of non‑compliance with building codes; review technical reports pertaining to building projects; enter, retrieve, and research data in the electronic records. Electrical Inspector duties are as follows: Perform timely inspection of new and existing buildings to ensure electrical safety; investigate complaints and issue notices of non‑compliance with electrical codes; review technical reports pertaining to electrical projects; enter, retrieve, and research data in the electronic records. Plumbing/Gas and Mechanical/Gas Inspector duties are as follows: Perform timely inspection of new and existing buildings to ensure safe installations of plumbing, mechanical, and gas systems; investigate complaints and issue notices of non‑compliance with plumbing, mechanical, and gas codes; review pertinent technical reports; enter, retrieve, and research data in the electronic records. Additional Duties Perform other related work as required. In an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties. Minimum qualifications: Completion of high school/GED, five years of related experience, and certification as a Standard Inspector under F.S. 468, Part XII. Must possess or attain standard certification within twelve months of employment for the respective specialty (Building, Electrical, Plumbing/Gas, or Mechanical/Gas). Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License. Proficiency in standard office equipment, cell phones, and personal computers (Internet Explorer, Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to read and interpret plans and drawings. Effective communication skills, both oral and written. All employees must attend Seminole County required trainings.
